Tusk & Mane Safaris

Located in one of Africa’s most thrilling safari regions, Tusk & Mane Safaris is an exceptionally wild yet beautiful combination of one base camp and two fly camps in the Lower Zambezi National Park.
The Tusk & Mane experience is expertly designed to unleash the magic of the Lower Zambezi National Park. Explore everything from Winter-thorn tree forests on remote Islands, north through various habitats, into the escarpment for the best of both worlds. The park has prolific wildlife including lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, hippo, crocodile, waterbuck, impala, wild dog, aardvark and honey badger. There's also a remarkable number of bird species. Day and night game drives, walking safaris, boat cruises, canoeing and fishing are among the activities on offer with Tusk & Mane.

Tusk & Mane's base camp, Tafara Springs is located on the mainland while its two fly camps, Kutali and Chula, are located on their own remote islands. Each of the three camps are in distinctly different habitats to give you the full Lower Zambezi experience. At Tafara Springs, the tents open to the bush so you'll miss none of the action. There's a well-stocked refrigerated bar in the shade of a big tree, comfortable couches, a canvas-sheltered dining area with gorgeous Persian rugs underfoot, and a campfire open to the stars. Having spent the day exploring, you can count on returning to base camp to find hearty dishes and refreshing salads. Despite Tusk & Mane's rustic location, the level of cuisine you'll enjoy here is nothing short of exceptional.

The fly camps are simple with a vintage luxury charm, under the stars and around the campfire. All tents come equipped with large comfortable bedrooms and an en-suite bathroom with a hot bucket shower and a flush toilet. Chula Camp's location is especially wild and remote. Chula Island is like Jurassic park, full of hidden lagoons, open grassy floodplains, and lots of surprises. Your typical game sighting here are of epic proportions... mischievous hyena, huge buffalo herds and loads of elephant, only to mention a few. Kutali Camp, on Kulefu Island, is a classic Lower Zambezi valley location set amongst Elephants in a thick Winter-thorn tree forest. Kulefu Island offers excellent canoeing and walking possibilities. It's the perfect place for getting up close to relaxing hippos and crocodiles sunning on the banks and an impressive array of birds. It's also just a river crossing away from the mainland where game drives take place.
