Time + Tide Chongwe Camp

There is a corner of the Lower Zambezi National Park where the rushing waters of the Zambezi meet the tranquil Chongwe channel. Curved ox-bow lagoons shimmer in the heat and spiky Winterthorn woodlands stretch endlessly to the horizon. Here lies Time + Tide Chongwe Camp.
A policy of non-intrusive wildlife enjoyment and low environmental impact has helped to make the Lower Zambezi valley one of southern Africa’s premier game viewing destinations.
Discover the striking flora and fauna or the diversity of amazing wildlife like leopards, lions, hippos, and over 500 bird species. Time + Tide Chongwe Camp offers a wide range of activities so you can explore Lower Zambezi from every angle.

Tiger-fishing is a specialty at Chongwe and the guides are all expert fishermen who will lend a hand when required! Day and night drives are offered in the surrounding Game Management Area the Lower Zambezi National Park, which is just minutes away. Walking is also spectacular with trails leading into the foothills of the escarpment, as are the water-based activities by canoe or boat
Boasting breath-taking views and, quite often, elephants wandering the grounds, Time + Tide Chongwe Camp has all the qualities to make you instantly fall in love with it. Its nine classic tents are designed to make the most of what Mother Nature provided.

Each has a panoramic view along the Chongwe River, a spacious open-air bathroom, a porch with comfortable lounge chairs, and features local textiles and handcrafted furniture. Their team serves up satisfying meals, your favourite drinks and big smiles in the relaxed dining area. Here, you can indulge yourself with brunch, freshly baked treats with tea in the afternoon, pre-dinner drinks or a three-course dinner around a crackling fire. A large canvas roof suspended from the trees houses a bar and lounge, the perfect spot from which to watch the constant procession of animals in and the camp. Down on the water’s edge, traditional safari chairs surround the fireplace where you can congregate in the evening before eating al fresco under the glittering stars.
