Mchenja Camp
Time + Tide Mchenja is an intimate riverside camp tucked into an ebony grove on the banks of the Luangwa River. The style is natural, graceful and quietly luxurious, with four safari rooms and one two bedroom, two bathroom family safari room. Each room has grass walls, soft furnishings, large picture windows, a feather top bed and an open air en suite bathroom with a soaking tub looking out towards the river. Solar power, fans, charge stations and WiFi in the rooms add practical comfort without taking away from the wilderness setting.
The main lodge includes dining areas, a lounge, bar, campfire and a swimming pool overlooking the Luangwa River. Mchenja is a strong choice for guests wanting both comfort and access to exceptional South Luangwa wildlife. Morning and afternoon game drives, walking safaris and cultural visits are included as daily activities, while the camp also offers sundowners, dining experiences and the Time + Tide Sleepout Under the Stars. Night drives can be particularly rewarding, and at the right time of year the area is known for carmine bee eaters.
Mchenja is open from 20 May to 15 November and welcomes children of all ages. Rates include accommodation, all meals, standard drinks, transfers to and from the local airport except Jeki, local inter camp road transfers, laundry, service charge and two daily activities. Reserve spirits, premium wines and champagnes, flights, visas, spa treatments, gratuities and personal expenses are excluded.
