Luwi Camp

Set deep in the heart of South Luangwa National Park, with no other camps for miles around, Time + Tide Luwi is a quintessential bush camp oasis.
With the nearby lagoon drawing animals from the surrounding plains there is never a shortage of wildlife to discover and the birdlife is a birdwatcher's dream. A wildlife hide overlooks the resident hippo pod and offers excellent sightings of the lagoon’s frequent wildlife visitors, ranging from thirsty lions to large herds of elephants. Due to its remote location, there aren't many roads in the area so activities at Time+Tide Luwi are focussed on walking safaris. This is one of the best camps in Tide+Tide's portfolio for walking safaris.

The wildlife in the area, which is famous for its lion and wild dog populations, is prolific. Tracking these animals each day on foot is a memory that will last a lifetime. Combine walks with game drives and explorations upriver to find the elusive roan antelope, reedbuck, eland and hartebeest. If you're looking to experience a profoundly authentic connection with nature, look no further. Luwi Bush Camp, like most of Time+Tide camps, offers a sleepout Under the stars. Doze off under a canopy of a million twinkling stars as Africa’s chorus of night sounds come alive. A cosy bedroll, bush loo and culinary team ensure that this experience is as comfortable as it is memorable.

Individually designed, the five grass and thatch en-suite rooms make the most of the surrounding wilderness and are nestled under a grove of ancient mahogany trees. The spacious open-air bathrooms have hot running showers and lavish toiletries. All the rooms have a private outside seating area with stunning views of the floodplains below. You can watch the abundant wildlife right from the privacy of your own suite. Time+Tide Luwi's main area consists of a small thatch cover bar and lounge area. Comfortable lounge chairs surround a permanent fireplace, making it the perfect spot for a cup of tea in the afternoon or a cocktail in the evening. Dining is al-fresco both during the day and at night for the full bush experience.
