Kapamba Bushcamp

In a secluded and somewhat untouched corner of the South Luangwa National Park, lies Kapamba Bushcamp. Set on the banks of the shallow, spring-fed river by the same name, Kapamba is surrounded by some of the park's most prolific wildlife.
Owned by the Bushcamp Company, the camp is one of only two of their Bush Camps open seasonally from April to January. Like its sister camps, Kuyenda, Chindeni, Chamilandu, and Bilimungwe, Kapamba's activities are a mix of walking safaris and game drives. It’s even possible to walk between some of the camps. Walking safaris are a must as you'll get much more up close and personal with the environment and see things you won’t be able to experience during a drive.

Kapamba's topnotch guides go that extra mile to find rare wild dogs or other bucket list sightings. Together with their knowledge and amazing bush stories, every activity is memorable and special. Game drives through the miombo woodlands and dry riverbeds are spectacular with lions, elephants, buffalo, impala, and giraffe seen on a daily basis. Scenic walks or drives along the river in the late afternoon are a special treat and the perfect spot for a cocktail pitstop. Kapamba River is shallow enough that there are no crocs and no hippos and clear enough to wade across or even to wallow in.

The charm of Kapamba is most obvious in its four spacious en-suite stone Chalets. The full front of each chalet is completely open and leads onto a short private veranda.

Clever wrought-iron shutters are drawn each evening so the sights and sounds of the African night are enjoyed without worrying about wildlife intrusion. The bath in each chalet is so large, it doubles as a plunge pool and looks out directly over your veranda to the vistas beyond. Lions hunting for their lunch, a leopard chasing an impala, an elephant family on their way to a river bath – it could all happen in front of your eyes without having to leave your chalet. The main area features a bar, lounge area and dining room, from which you can indulge in superb meals and superb views.
