Ila Safari Lodge

As a member of the Green Safaris family, Ila Safari Lodge sits in an idyllic location on the banks of the Kafue River in the centre of Zambia's largest national park. Situated just a one hour flight from Kenneth Kaunda International airport or a three hour drive from Lusaka, Ila is the perfect base to roam deeper into the Kafue National Park.
Kafue is Zambia’s oldest and largest national park, yet not as busy as its neighbours South Luangwa and Lower Zambezi. The park is named for the Kafue River, home to pods of hippos and lurking crocodiles, as well as supplying a regular water source for the park’s abundance of wildlife. 40% of all Africa's water flows through Zambia and the Kafue River is one of the largest rivers in the country.

Here you'll find 22,400 square kilometres of pristine African bush to explore in open 4x4 game vehicles, by boat on the river or using your own two feet with guided walking safaris. Lion, leopard, elephant and buffalo are all prominent. Kafue also boasts the highest population of wild dog in Africa and the greatest diversity of antelope in the world. An impressive mix of habitats makes Kafue one of the best locations in Africa for birding. The Kafue riverbanks, wetlands, savannah and woodland boast an impressive 478 of Zambia's 733-recorded bird species.
Ila Safari Lodge is the ultimate high-end Eco-Lodge, built in 2016 with a strong focus on sustainability.

The lodge has 10 tents designed to melt into their surroundings, made with locally sourced wood and khaki canvas walls. Each tent is perched on stilts with their own private deck overlooking the river. The tents boast luxurious amenities including an outdoor shower and bath with views of the river. There are also two spacious family suites with separate sleeping areas and en-suite bathrooms, perfect for groups or families. The open-sided, thatched boma that makes up the main area perches on the edge of the river and includes a lounge with plentiful seating, a fire-pit area, and an open-air restaurant. Ila's menu ranges from buffet breakfasts and tasty lunches to gourmet dinners. A highlight of the lodge is the breath-taking infinity pool overlooking the Kafue River. Relax on the sunbeds as you soak up an awe-inspiring sunset over the African wilderness.
