Chisa Busanga Plains

A new offering from Green Safaris, Chisa Busanga Bush Camp lies on a secluded island in the heart of the Busanga Plains, overlooking the massive floodplains and dambos that teem with wildlife.

The Busanga Flood Plains, in the North of the Kafue National Park, is one of the most unique wilderness areas Africa has to offer. The total area of the plains is over 13,000 square kilometres. During the green season the plains flood but as the dry season approaches, the waters recede to reveal a fine assortment of wildlife to marvel at.

Game returns to graze on the grasses, and in their wake, a noteworthy selection of predators.

Just a few highlights here include black-maned lion, cheetah, wild dog, wildebeest, zebra, impala, puku, and pangolin. Activities at Chisa Busanga include game drives, walking safaris and e-biking. Like Ila Safari Lodge, Chisa features an electric game-drive vehicle, to enable silent safaris. This allows for the full experience of the sounds of the bush, and brings you closer to unsuspecting wildlife than you ever thought possible!

‘Chisa’ means bird’s nest in the local Nyanja language, and the camp is named for the four nest-like rooms which stand in the treetops on stilts. For your inner child that dreams of treehouse adventures, this dream becomes the ultimate luxurious reality at Chisa Busanga Bush Camp. Wake up to see elephants walking by through the early morning mist, rising from the bush, and lechwe jumping the Busanga streams. With a bird’s eye view over the plains, the rooms are cozy, comfortable and have en-suite bathrooms with indoor and outdoor showers. The Boma-style communal area of the camp is also raised to offer impressive views of the plains and features a beautiful plunge pool.
