Chindeni Bushcamp

Chindeni is one of the most popular camps out of The Bushcamp Company portfolio, lying on the edge of a permanent lagoon and boasting prolific birdlife.
Chindeni is situated in the remote south of the South Luangwa National Park, underneath a shady grove of ebony trees overlooking Chayumba Lagoon, a large and productive oxbow lake teeming with wildlife. The Chindeni Hills are another impressive feature of the camp's location, providing an endless and breathtaking backdrop. Avid game viewers and birdwatchers can set out on superb walking safaris, game drives, and night drives in the surrounding area.

In the presence of expert guides, a walking safari gives you an intimate look at the local plants, insects, smaller game, and bird species. Game drives provide opportunities to see a lot more of the park and to enjoy countless wildlife sightings. Among the highlights here are four of the Big Five – lion, leopard, elephant, and buffalo. Be sure to also keep an eye out for cheetah, hyena, jackal, wild dog, giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, various antelopes, and hippo. If you want to experience the thrill of nocturnal wildlife your afternoon game drive can extend into a night drive. Nightlight sightings may include the civet, genet, porcupine, and honey badger.

The four spacious tents are raised on wooden decking and luxuriously furnished. The spacious tents are equipped with four poster beds, cosy sitting rooms, en-suite bathrooms and vaulted canvas ceilings for the ultimate relaxation.

A wooden verandah extends from the front of the tents where two hammocks are suspended, overlooking Chayumba Lagoon. This hustling and bustling oxbow lake is home to pelicans, yellow-billed storks, fish eagles, kingfishers and many more impressive bird species — among other wildlife. The communal area at Chindeni Bushcamp also overlooks the lagoon. It’s made up of a spacious split-level deck. Here, you’ll find a pleasant lounge and dining areas, shaded by ebony trees. This is where you can relax over a delicious meal in the open air as you absorb the outstanding wildlife activity and magnificent views.
